At this advanced level luxury business seminar State of Luxury, Mr. Puck will share his global expertise on what luxury PR and promotion should look like going into 202 and will provide exact tips on how to garner clients, media and respected standards of desire. BACKGROUND
Mr. Puck was born in Austria and began cooking alongside his mother at a very young age. A chef herself, she encouraged Wolfgang and inspired his passion for food. Driven and inquisitive to learn, he started his formal training when he was fourteen years old. As a young chef he worked in some of France’s greatest restaurants, including Maxim’s in Paris, the Hotel de Paris in Monaco, and the Michelin 2-starred L’Oustau de BaumanieĚre in Provence. At the age of 24, Wolfgang left Europe for the United States. His first job was at the restaurant La Tour in Indianapolis, where he worked from 1973 to 1975.
In 1975, Wolfgang came to Los Angeles and quickly garnered the attention of the Hollywood elite as chef of Ma Maison in West Hollywood. His dynamic personality, culinary brilliance, high standards of business skills and progressive mind-set that bridged tradition and invention making Ma Maison a magnet for the rich and famous.
CREATION OF WORLD RENOWNED “SPAGO"
After leaving Ma Maison, in 1982, he opened his first flagship restaurant, the iconic brand Spago. Located in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip, this legendary Spago location was an instant success and culinary phenomenon. His early signature created dish, pizza topped with smoked salmon and caviar is still legendary today. Along with his Sonoma baby lamb with braised greens and rosemary, he and Spago where now on the international gourmet map where his fame and pedigree remain today as one of the tops restauranteurs in the world.
Wolfgang and Spago earned many accolades during its eighteen years in West Hollywood, including the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Chef of the Year in 1991 and 1998, and the James Beard Foundation Award for Restaurant of the Year in 1994. Mr. Puck is the only chef to have won the Outstanding Chef of the Year Award multiple times.
Following the success of Spago in West Hollywood, in 1983, Wolfgang opened Chinois on Main in Santa Monica. His early exposure to Southern California’s multicultural population intrigued him, inspiring him to fuse with originality the Asian flavors and products with his French and California-based cuisine in a fine dining setting. Chinois on Main brings diners a fresh and imaginative Asian-fusion menu that laid the legendary groundwork for - fusion cooking in America.
After 15 years in West Hollywood, Wolfgang moved Spago to the ever-popular setting on Canon Drive in Beverly Hills. His menu blazed new ground, with a combination of updated Spago classics and newly conceived items. The seasonal menu drew inspiration from his favorite childhood dishes, offering a selection of Austrian specialties such as Wienerschnitzel and Kaiserschmarren.
CREATION OF MICHELIN STAR “CUT"
In 2006, CUT was opened, a sleek, contemporary steakhouse at the acclaimed Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel. After only one year, CUT earned a prestigious Michelin star among numerous other top accolades including Restaurant of the Year by Esquire Magazine.

Matt Goldberg is a national-award winning director of news and investigative journalist and is the Vice President and News Director for KCBS Channel 2 and KCAL Channel 9.
Each weekday, Mr. Goldberg is responsible for overseeing the production of eight straight hours of local news. This includes KCAL’s 5 to 10am block as well as weekend morning newscasts. Each week, Mr. Goldberg helps producer whopping total of more than 86 hours of live local news. Each hour, he is on the cutting edge of deciding which stories will come out of one of the cities biggest newsrooms. With decades of experience, Mr. Goldberg succinctly knows the LA market, the state of California, as well as the nation.
Prior to CBS, he spent 20 years with NBC. From 2018 to 2023, he launched and built NBCLX a national streaming network with a mission to redefine and reimagine news production. Prior to this, he was at KNBC Los Angeles, serving as Managing Editor and Assistant News Director. Prior to that, he was at NBC Bay Area, where he created and led the largest unit of investigative reporters, producers, and photographers in local news.Earlier in his career, he was an investigative producer at KCBS-KCAL, working side-by-side with Joel Grover and worked at TV stations in San Francisco, Houston and Phoenix.

Byron Lazaroff-Puck, Cornell graduate of Hospitality, Leadership and Development, and the second son of Wolfgang Puck and interior designer and co-founder of the Wolfgang Puck brand Barbara Lazaroff, has been named Director of Operations, after holding the position of Director of Food, Beverage and Hospitality. Today, Byron travels the world promoting and running the operations of the 28 restaurants and businesses that fall under the Puck legacy empire. Having studied at his fathers restaurants having managed Spago Beverly Hills for two years and two more of the Puck restaurants in Los Angeles, Merois and Ospero at the Pendry West Hollywood hotel, as well having studied in London under Nobu Matsuhisa, in New York under Eric Ripert at Le Bernadin, having worked at three-star Michelin star restaurant Alinea and at El Celler de Can Roca in Spain, his father credits him with endless fresh ideas that have been incorporated into the brand. Ann Shatilla has invited Bryon to join her on stage to add a bit of additional color commentary on technological advances and digital disciplines that can be incorporated by luxury businesses and that can serve as a form of inspiration for national and international growth of your own business.
